Becoming Clear on What it means to be an Episcopalian
The chief pastor of the Episcopal Church, offering her understanding of homosexuality: it is a gift from God. She also encourages her denomination to see that things are settling down (I assume as conservatives leave), and it is becoming clear what it means to be an Episcopalian. Watch it for yourself, if you are interested.
I wrote the following as a comment, but then decided I should probably be more clear on this post itself.
I do not agree with the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. I post this because I think it is important for people to understand exactly where she stands, and the direction she believes her denomination has taken.
In Anglican Christianity, decisions as to God's will have historically been made based on the Bible, and then also on Christian reason and Church tradition. I believe that this is essential Anglican practice, and is the form of Christianity that I am involved in. In this new form of Episcopalianism, decisions seem to be made on the basis of certain scientific understandings as well as communal and individual experience. At least, I take that from the video, as well as many other sources.
