Holy Week

Hey friends,

Holy Week begins on Sunday. If you are in the Nashville area and your church does not participate in the old-school liturgies, I would love to have you come and visit us at my church, Redeemer, for a service or two this week. Many of these services are amazing, ancient rites that only happen once a year. Redeemer is located at 920 Caldwell Lane in Nashville, 37204

Holy Week

April 1: Palm Sunday: Special Liturgy at both 8:30 and 10:45 am services. These services begin outside and we process in together with our palms. Also features the reading of the Passion story.

April 2: Monday of Holy Week: Holy Eucharist at noon

April 3: Tuesday of Holy Week: Holy Eucharist at noon

April 4: Wednesday of Holy Week: Holy Eucharist at noon

April 4: Tenebrae (the Liturgy of Shadows): 7 pm
This service, based in a 1500 year old group of liturgies, has never been done at Redeemer before. It is a journey with Jesus through the words of the Psalms and (literally) increasing darkness.

April 5: Maundy Thursday: Holy Eucharist at noon

April 5: Maundy Thursday: Foot-washing, Communion, Altar Stripping: 7 pm
This powerful service re-enacts the last supper. There is childcare available for this service.

April 6: Good Friday: Seven Last Words: noon-3 pm
Come and go as you please through these meditations on the seven sentences Jesus uttered through the cross. A rhythm of words, prayers, silence, and music brings Jesus' time on the cross to life in our hearts and minds.

April 6: Good Friday: Outdoor Stations of the Cross: 6 pm
Follow the cross through fourteen stations in the re-enactment of Jesus journey from Pilate's sentence to the tomb. Physical activity is required, including walking across the 4 acres of our land.

April 8: Easter Sunday: Great Vigil and Sunrise Service 5:30 am
Yes, it is early in the morning, but its worth it. This very ancient service recounts salvation history and ends in Holy Communion at sunrise. Come and celebrate Easter as the early church did.

April 8: Easter Sunday: Celebration Liturgy at both 8:30 and 10:45 am.
